No not the wedding show, I mean whose wedding is it in reality. Is it the bride, groom, parents or aunts and uncles? Whose wedding is it really? I get a lot of couples who at the beginning are excited with designing and planning there wedding, come to me to help make there wedding dreams a reality but always seem to get stuck at certain aspects like the date, church, food and most especially the guest list. In most cases they are trying to please mom or dad. I try to keep to the professional aspect of the planning and design and try as much as possible not to get involved in the personal aspect. It can be really hard especially when you have developed a relationship with the bride which is always avoidable. Especially when the bride is being pressured from family on details of the wedding and we become not only the planner but become confidant also.
It also becomes difficult when you have a bride who wants a small intimate wedding but her family wants a large wedding.
A bride who wants a destination wedding but her family would rather she have a traditional church wedding. And the list goes on and on.
But thank God I've finally have brides who can stand up to mom or dad and say they would rather a small intimate wedding with only family and very close friends.
But in all honesty in most cases, only a few can get away with really having the guest list, destination and even wedding dress of there dreams(trust me I've seen it all) especially if daddy is the bank account.
So whose wedding is it anyway?
